Violence against healthcare workers is a pervasive problem that threatens the safety of staff, patients, and visitors in healthcare facilities. The results are catastrophic to our greatest human resource, you, the healthcare professionals. The injury, mental and emotional stress, and costs are not just felt by the employers, but coworkers, and patients who need and deserve a safe environment.

July Executive Committee Meeting
All too often, healthcare professionals give everything they have to the institution they are employed by and those they care for. They sacrifice sleep, weekends, holidays, family functions, and more importantly their physical and mental health. Professionals on the frontlines of the Covid 19 pandemic put their lives at risk and faced insurmountable stress for months. Healthcare workers were faced with staffing shortages and a daily barrage of new patients, often leading to diet and exercise neglect and more importantly emotional burnout.
It is difficult to find compassion and empathy for yourself and those you love when you have given it all away. Self-care for Healthcare Workers is designed to help combat burnout before it’s too late and give you tools for emotional well-being. However, it begins with you recognizing the importance of caring for you first.
Finding your way back to being the best you and helping others, begins with helping yourself. It is a process of triaging your mental and emotional health on a regular basis, recognizing what you need before it is too late, and developing healthy coping mechanisms. However, it is also important to know when to seek help and finding the right resources.
This four hour CEU is designed to address a variety of healthcare professions and consider best practices to:
- Triage your mental health and well-being
- Recognize what you need before it’s too late
- Develop healthy coping mechanisms
- Prevent and overcoming burnout
- Knowing that its ok to seek help
- Find the best resources to care for yourself
