History
Since 1970, Darton Health Professions Foundation (formerly Albany Junior College Foundation/Darton State College Foundation), has removed the financial barriers for students seeking a post-secondary education in Albany-Dougherty County and Southwest Georgia.
Throughout the last 50 years, the foundation has supported the health sciences and its faculty, and has awarded millions of dollars in student scholarships. In addition, we have provided housing for local and long-distance students in an academic-life environment while preparing them for their future careers.
Focused on providing our students and community with health profession career opportunities in 13 fields of study, we are proud that some of our most notable scholarship recipients are now professors and professionals in the health care professions.
We are a fiscally-sound and financially-sustainable organization, investing our resources, into the students and programs that ensure state-of-the-art programs and opportunities. Our foundation will continue its tradition of serving the students and constituents of tomorrow with local leadership, sound fiscal investments, endowment management, and promotion of the health professions in the Albany-Dougherty County area.

Who We Are
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of independent, local representatives who care about education and removing the financial barriers for individuals who wish to seek a post-secondary degree while living and working in our Southwest Georgia community.
Over time, our name has changed and our mission has evolved, but we have remained steadfast as a resource to enhance both the lives of our students and the local health professions.

Financials
The Darton Health Professions Foundation’s Board of Directors and Executive and Finance Committees are committed to the charge of fiscal stewardship, transparency, and honoring the legacy of endowments and gifts that are purposed to benefit students.
